The
Walsingham Gala Evening
Saturday,
May 20th saw a very special event at St Faith's: the staging of a Gala
Concert in aid of the Walsingham Appeal.
Follow THIS LINK to read an article by Fr
Neil Kelley giving the background to the Shrine and also an account of
the event.
Scroll down this page for
pictures by DENIS GRIFFITHS which capture the flavour of the evening.
Before the
event, patrons and performers gathered in the Library of nearby
Merchant Taylors' School for pre-concert drinks and canapes, following
which they adjourned to the church for an evening of solo and
ensemble music. The guest of honour was none other than the Archbishop
of York.
These pictures take us up to the interval. Follow the link at the end
for a further selection, including a photo of the handing over at
Walsingham of a cheque for £2,000, the proceeds of the concert..
