Sue's Swansong

Low Sunday, 3rd April 2016, marked another milestone in the journeys of Revd Dr Sue Lucas,
our priest-in charge for just over two years, and for the people of St Faith's.

The 11.00 am Sung Eucharist was Sue's last celebration at the altars of our church,
and after the service she posed with the members of the Ministry Team,
who will be responsible for sustaining the life and worship of St Faith's as our interregnum begins.

But her final service was a splendid and moving Choral Evensong and Liturgy of Farewell.
The former featured a splendid augmented choir to send Sue off in style.
The latter acted out the final minutes of an incumbency as she handed over her keys
and divested herself of cope and accoutrements which were placed on the altar.
Sue walked alone to the back of church as the service ended,
to be joined for the last time by the members of the Ministry Team.
All then headed for the church hall, where congregation and visitors partook of bubbly and posh nibbles.
Finally it was time for Rick to make a speech and for the handing over of gifts,
while glasses were raised in tribute and Irene's cake was divided and shared.
