All the Fun of the Fair!

Saturday, May 5th saw an action-packed afternoon as St Faith's presented our first Spring Fair.
Sandwiched between days of miserable weather, we enjoyed a dry (if chilly) day and even some sunshine.
From 12.30 pm to 4.00 pm, the gallant band of helpers manned stalls and served hot food in the church hall,
and later offered Victorian afternoon tea in the sylvan surroundings of the vicarage garden.
Outside hard-working leaders and young people of our uniformed organisations laid on a whole
range of activities from crockery smashing to face painting, while boys from Merchant Taylors'
entertained the crowds around the site and as an accompaniment to the garden teas.

Later in the afternoon, we had a visit from the local police - not because we were causing a disturbance
but to show us their dogs and to give a demonstration of their skills, to the delight of the children.
Pictures of  this, and of course of the landmark appearance in the stocks first of our vicar, Fr Neil,
and later of Mike Carr, Akela of the cubs, will appear soon...!
