'We will remember them' Remembrance Sunday, November 10th, 2013, was marked by the traditional service at St Faith's Church, centred round the two minutes' silence. A highlight this year was the major contribution made by the children of our uniformed organisations, on parade with their banners and taking a big part in our worship in a well-filled church. Helping us to remember the sacrifices made in two world wars and countless other conflicts, they bore aloft photographs of soldiers and told their touching stories. After the service, the Beavers, Cubs and Scouts stayed on for an activity afternoon. After lunch, the Beavers and Cubs were taken to see the poppy wreaths at the nearby Five Lamps war memorial, after which they panted daffodil bulbs in the church garden. The Scouts continued working on the redevelopment area (words and pictures in a previous report) |
