The Pre-Lent Senior Citizens' Dinner 2013
Once upon a time it was the pre-Christmas dinner, before life got too hectic in the countdown to Christmas.
This year it was therefore going to be the Epiphany Dinner, until we heard that our new vicar was due
to arrive a few days later and would miss all the fun.
So in 2013 it was the Pre-Lent dinner - and well worth waiting for.
It was still just as wet, cold and generally gloomy outside
- and the heating in church was partly on the blink.
But the hall was warm, and the atmosphere even warmer, as some 50
ladies and gentlemen of mature years sat down for a splendid three-course meal,
warmed by a pre-prandial sherry, and washed down with a glass of wine.
