Crowds
and candles at Christingle!
Numbers were up at this year's
Christmas Eve Christingle service. A full church of parents and
children
young and old
took part in the traditional rituals
of carols and readings - and a homily with a difference by Reader Fred
Nye.
On parade were various animals
associated, accurately or otherwise, with the time of year.
The star attraction was probably the
penguin, in his penguin suit and with his penguin beak,
who played the organ when he
was not illustrating the sermon.
The procession of Christingle-bearers,
braving the obligatory Elf and Safety warnings,
wound round the church and survived
un-singed.
