The BBC are coming to Saint Faith's. Two services broadcast on BBC 1 Television during Advent (December 12th: Advent III) and December 19th (Advent IV) will be rehearsed and recorded earlier in Saint Faith's.

The first of the two broadcasts will be of our Sunday morning Sung Eucharist, the second will be an ecumenical service of words and music. At both services the Bishop of Liverpool, James Jones, will be the preacher, and the services will feature not just our own congregation, but people of all ages from the local community and beyond.

There have been several BBC radio broadcasts from our church over the years, on Radio Four and BBC Radio Merseyside. And in 1986, in the BBC 1 televison programme 'Home on Sunday', with Cliff Michelmore interviewing Robert Runcie, Archbishop of Canterbury and a former member of St Faith's, the church was used as the setting for various items of sacred music, including some performed by St Faith's Church Choir. However, the programmes now being planned will be on a significantly larger scale and will involve much hard work - and much excitement, too. We are honoured that, followingr much investigation by the BBC, our church has been chosen, and we are looking forward very much to what will undoubtedly be a great and historic occasion in the life of our church and community.

Planning and preparations have of course been under way for some time, and there will be progress reports, pictures and further information in these pages in  the coming weeks. On the linked pages are the text of a letter which is being sent out inviting those outside our congregation who would like to be part of one or both of the recordings, and the first 'front-line' bulletin about how things are developing.

Admission to the rehearsals and recordings is by ticket only, but everyone is welcome to apply using the downloaded form or by telephoning the numbers supplied.
