'All is
Safely Gathered in...'
The
2006 Harvest Festival service this year was also, on the first Sunday
of October, the occasion of the last of the year's experimental
'All-age Worship' services.
Fr Mark Waters and the Mission Group
team who, with Fr Neil, have been responsible for the preceding
special ten acts of family worship, had again put together a varied and
colourful order of service. The worship featured an action sermon, the
uniformed organisations on parade, young people leading the prayers, a
'signed' Lord's Prayer for the hard of hearing, and a baptism round the
font. Following the service, many of the congregation gathered to
evaluate this past year's special worship services, to reflect with
pleasure on their colourful variety and their sucess in attracting more
young people to church, and to make suggestions for the future.
Following the evaluation, a handout was produced, laying out the
history of the experiment, and quoting the reactions of those who
responded. To read this handout, illustrated by pictures of the
highlights of the year's services, click

Chris Price's pictures of the service
show much of the action, including the spraying of those too near the
font by the celebrant. In the final picture, Fr Mark is sporting the
new 'fruits of the earth' stole made by the Junior Church.
